You make mention that Yeshiva bochurim are particularly vulnerable to the black hole of gambling.

Covid was a black hole for the integrity of the Jewish community.

Two targeted challenges to Jewish life in the past 6 years.

Add the wars in Eretz Yisrael.

I see a pattern here.
