Thank you for your educational and entertaining Headlines programs.

As an additional source which is relevant to the Rambam’s words at the end of Shmita V’Yovel, may I share something which I stumbled upon earlier this week. The Rambam in מורה נבוכים ח”ג פ”כד which is attached below comments on the “nisayon” of the manna. The lesson the Rambam presents, I think is pretty clearly referring to his comment at the end of Shmita V’Yovel and reiterating that his words do indeed refer to כל באי העולם.

Just to fill in on the basic shitas rishoinim on loi osi rabim.

The Rambam (perush mishnayos),

Hagohas meimanis (pshat in the Rambam), Rav bartanura, Or zarua, Piskei Rid (from

the sugya in shabbas 6a), R’ Chananul, Bal hamoar (meikar hadin), Magid Mishna,

Hagoas oshri, Trumas hadeshen, Toisfas yeshonim, Eshkol, R’ Mendel Kloizner

(quoted in Hagohas oshri), Radvaz, Beis efrayim and R’ C Volozhiner prove from

toisfes (6b), all pasken like chachomim and so is the pashtas of the Rambam. The

M.Y’s pshat in Ramabm is not simple besides in perush hamishna he explicitly

paskens like chachomim. In addition to the 15 Rishoinim quoted above, according to

the Biur haloch’s understanding that those who hold of dalsus reuyois must pasken

like chachomim, there are an additional 7 Rishoinim, they are: The Tor, Ravon,

Maharik, Toisfas in pesachim (66a), Toisfas Rashba (66a), R’ Yerucham, and the

Maharil, which brings to 22 Rishoinim! . The Rif and Rosh’s opinion is under serious

debate ….22 Rishoinim pasken like Chchomim and 10 pasken like R’ Yehuda, This is absolutely explicit, many current seforim are missing basic marei mekoimas on this topic. (see sefer rechoivas hair)

There are close to 60 achroinim that pasken like chachomim (do not have the space to write them all) just to quote a few; R’ A Eiger, Graz, R’ Chaim volizhiner, Oruch hashulchan, Atzei almoigim, Avnei neizer, Chayei odom, Yad haeivi, Pri megodim and many many more, regarding the mishna brura i’m shocked you didn’t mention that in siman 363 twice he paskens like chachomim without choilek (the mechabrim ask the stira) also it’s mevuar that he doesn’t reject it bc if he did than on a issur deoiraysa you would have to protest like you see in other areas of hilchas shabbos, rather he says a “bal nefesh” yachmir, he doen’t say everyone should like he often says, nor does he say a “yirei shomayim” should like he says in siman 361

Regarding the rema you qouted in 345 that says you need dalsus neulois every night, if you would have learnt the achroinim properly you will see that the majority learn NOT like the biur halocha and that even according to that opinion you need them closed every night and so is mevuar in a list of rishoinim even though they pasken like chachomim, regarding the actual psak of the rema there is a big debate what he holds as the tor in 345 say they need to be closed every night but in 364 he says it’s sufficient with dalsus reuyois and so says the darkei moishe and so there is a contradiction in the rambam it’s to long to write about….

Regarding R’ Moishe’s chiddush that 600 is a din in the city, see rashi shabbos 6a absolutely clear not like r’ moishe, if you see rashi eiruvin 59b you will see how rashi interprets what a “ir” means and why R’ moishe’s proof doesn’t start, also see ritva, rashbam in bava basra 60a that machane yisroel is not a rehsus harabim not like R’ moishe even though the same ritva in eiruvin says a loshon “ir” which shows he doesn’t mean as R’ moishe understood. The words of the mechaber are not mashma like that as R’ moishe struggles with and he says the mechaber is talking outside a city, see R’ yerucham that says the same words of the mechaber and inside a city. Many achroinim say that it depends on the road see Shar hatzion 364,25, pnei yehoishua shabbos 96b, maharsham, yeshuois malkoi, see tiferes yaakov that is medayek from beis efrayim also, it’s also clear from the mishknas yaakov not like R’ moishe, Graz, kaf hachaim, minchas yitzchok, chazon ish, chacham tzvi, Minchas elozor, Even yisroel

Regarding the question how it’s possible to have 600 in one day, it’s hard to be too lengthy in writing here but in short it’s mevuar in the words of the beis efrayim and further achroinim that you don’t need 600 “bepoiel” rather that they could possibly come, furthermore many poskim hold it doesn’t have to all be in one day……..but this question is obviously not a proof having in mind all the proofs from the rishoinim and achroinim that its a din in the street.

It’s worth noting (and so point out Rav wosner and R’ Shloima zalman) that we know today that well over 50 rishoinim pasken of the shita of shishim riboi (see shach Y,d 242 regarding if an achron made a psak without having all the information available to him that his psak is botul)

Regarding mechuvanois see eshel avraham 364 that it means it can’t bend like a |”reish” and that is said without a mechitza, and so is mevuar in divrei malkiel, beis efrayim, mishknas yaakov, Rav Shloima duvid kahana, minchas elozor on Warsaw eiruv, and so is mevuar in biur halocha 364 nobody ever meant that it has to be totally straight

You didn’t mention regatrding pritzas eser the shitas that are meikel, The Meiri (11a) brings Geoinim that argue and further

rishoinim say so by “pasei birois” Tois Rosh (beginning 2nd Perek), R’ Yoinasosn,

Eshkol (67) and so Pasken Mabit, Pri Megodim, B.H, Achiezer, Chazon Ish, Igros

Moishe, an the BIUR HALOCHA is mebuar like that in 362, why does one have to be more machmir then the biur halocha

There is so much more to say but it is a real shame, that instead of people becoming more informed they became misinformed, and how there was a clear lack of aknowledgment for registered shitas rishoinim
