Is it permissible according to Halacha to establish communal guidelines or enactments that restrict the sale or purchase of homes within a defined radius of the community?
May a Jew purchase property in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood with the intent to rent it out to non-Jews?
Does it matter what type of tenants are placed in the property—for example, individuals of questionable character, multiple families, or undocumented immigrants?
If such tenants are likely to negatively impact the spiritual atmosphere of the neighborhood, is that a legitimate halachic concern that should be weighed?
Can one invoke the principle of kim li in a way that causes harm to others—for instance, to justify behavior that may otherwise be morally questionable?
I am listening with both great interest and shock to the latest episode
of your podcast Jew vs Jew.
I travel from Eretz Yisrael to Monsey several times a year for a work
and I spend a lot of time in Spring Valley right on the edge of New
Square. I have gone into New Square to go to some of the stores there
and have davened in the big shul there many times and overall have met
many Skverrer hassidim. I find them to be pleasant and friendly, which
of course I understand does not mean as a group they would not do what
you are discussing in the episode for whatever they are trying to
achieve, but it is somewhat shocking.
I am wondering why people from the nearby community do not call ICE to
raid the area (while I dont know who they are or if they are illegal,
they were described several times as illegals).
If nothing else has helped and Skver has no problem bringing pritzus and
decadence to the Jewish neighborhoods to chase out the jews, perhaps the
nearby communities need to fight fire with fire. Hire the same types of
people or others and pay them to go into the Skver areas and have
picnics and parties in the parks, have a parade through the streets and
generally go in and make the same types of disturbances.
Anyway, as an outsider sitting form the side I found this fascinating
and shocking all at the same time
Hatzlacha and good Shabbos
kol tuv
Why doesn’t the people of the mile hire protesters to come in bathing suits and demonstrate on Shabbos in front of the shul there is no meluchah dshabos deorisa. I am sure with the press and cops there it wont be needed to be done for more than 1 or 2 weeks?
Kal Hakavod to your podcast! I really appreciate the content you put out and how you present Halachic concepts In a way that is geshmak and enjoyable to listen to. I also appreciate that you don’t shy away from difficult or controversial topics. I would like to suggest an episode about משיח מן המתים. I found a Sefer published about this (obviously by a Lubavitcher,) with a forward letter from R’ Zev Leff Shlita. It is available for purchase or digital download at shmoishelmoshiach.com . I am currently researching this topic and I found the Sefer to be helpful. Ithink this will be an interesting conversation for your show. Much Hatzlacha in your work! M.C.
